Dr. Sung R. Lee is a dedicated and accomplished orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. He recently completed his fellowship training at the prestigious New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, MA, a nationally recognized leader in orthopaedics, and is now proud to be part of NY Partners Orthopedics.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Lee moved to the United States at an early age. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine and went on to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. His time in the Bronx caring for a diverse and resilient patient population deepened his commitment to community-focused, compassionate care and reinforced his belief that high-quality orthopaedics should be accessible to all.

Dr. Lee has extensive experience in athletic team coverage. He served as one of the Team Physicians for the NBA’s Boston Celtics and was the primary surgeon responsible for the game-to-game orthopaedic care of Harvard University’s lacrosse and rugby athletes, serving as their first point of contact for injuries and ongoing treatment. His clinical expertise encompasses advanced arthroscopic and joint-preserving procedures, with a particular focus on helping athletes and active individuals return to their peak performance.

Dr. Lee’s academic contributions include multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, reflecting his commitment to advancing orthopaedic knowledge and innovation. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Fluent in English and Korean, he is equally dedicated to community engagement and providing culturally sensitive care to diverse patient populations.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Lee enjoys keeping active, traveling to new cities, exploring museums, discovering new restaurants with his wife, and following various professional sports. He brings the same enthusiasm, discipline, and teamwork from the field and operating room into every aspect of his practice.
